It’s been just over five months since I started this Substack publication and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who reads it and to everyone who subscribes for a print. As an artist who sometimes doesn’t feel like one, I always feel encouraged after writing these posts and printing the prints. It reminds me that there are people there who are genuinely interested in my work and thats all an artist ever wants.
I also wanted to say that for those of you who are subscribed to receive a print in July, those are on their way! Thank you for your patience. Life doesn’t seem to slow down. Also, in the original Negative Space post I didn’t have a title to the photo. But now I do.
“Heaven is in Sight”
With the theme of the reminder of death, I felt “Heaven is in Sight” was a good name for this print. It’s as if the children are scrambling up the rock and realize the place that they need to be is right over the crest of the rock. Having their eyes set on what’s right over the rock gives them strength to keep climbing.
Falls of the Ohio: A Look at New Work
What was supposed to be a single trip to the falls to practice with my large format camera turned into what has now been two months of making pictures at the falls. I’d love to go into the details of how this project came about and the timing of this project in my own creative life, but that’s a story for another more “formal” post. Right now I just want to share some of my favorite photos with you that I haven’t necessarily shared on other social media platforms.
Thanks so much for reading and I cant wait to see where this project goes within the coming months and even years.
Cheers,
Andrew
