Change is coming.
Welcome back to Negative Space. I took a little bit of a break from things on Substack for a little bit to focus on some other projects but it’s good to be back. For those of you who are waiting on prints in the mail, I’ll be getting back in the darkroom next week to catch up on printing, so be expecting a couple prints in your envelope this month! I’ve acquired some new darkroom equipment so I hopefully will be putting that to use in the coming months.
I feel a change is coming to Negative Space. With things seemingly picking up, my attention is being pulled in many different directions. With that, Negative Space will become more photo heavy with a few thoughts scattered in. I love this little publication, but there are things on the horizon that will require more of my attention.
One being that we are expecting our second child.
I am beyond excited for this next chapter in my life as Maddi and I bring a new member of the family into the world. Being a dad is my greatest joy in life and I can’t wait to meet our new baby this late September.
Some thoughts
A few weeks ago, Maddi and I went on a trip to Mexico, just the two of us. This was a much needed baby-moon for us to get away and spend some time together. I was able to make some of my favorite photographs of Maddi documenting the pregnancy. I was overwhelmed with thankfulness for the art of photography and the privilege of having someone like her in my life. I love my little family. So I just wanted to share some of my favorite photos from our trip for this post followed by one little thought after. I hope you enjoy.
When I get to to the end of my life, the photos I’m going to want to look at are these. I’m not going to care about who I met, who I’ve photographed for, or what brand I’ve shot for. These are the images that will occupy my mind and put a smile on my face. I think I just needed to be reminded of that.
Cheers,
Andrew
So nice to see this. Beautiful images. I've often thought that if all that comes from my photography work is some nice family photos I can pass down, that's good enough for me.
