Welcome back to another Print Notes.
This post will be a little shorter than the last one. Things have been picking up for me photographically in terms of having different shoots and projects to work on. So I’m gonna try and keep this post simple.
I do want to say that I’m really excited for this month’s print that I’ll be working on here in the next couple of weeks. It’s a photo that, when I saw it for the first time, made me really excited. It’s a little different than what I’m used to photographing and excited to try my hand at printing it for ya’ll. But that will all be explained in this month’s Negative Space post here in a couple weeks.
Split Tone Printing
So, to jump right in to this post, I used a technique on “The Beach Boy Lover’s” print called split tone printing. Split tone printing is basically exposing the image 2 times, maybe more. This process requires some type of contrast filters to be used on each exposure. Each exposure you do for the image is either to expose for the highlights or the shadows.
So let’s take a look at the first test image that I made.
